Imagine a time when every game in the Vic Open weekender was being displayed live online… Well,  it isn’t that far away. Next year we might just see the Geelong Open or Victorian Country Championships with every games displayed live online and saved into a CV ‘club-player-games’ database.

When I was first asking around clubs for ideas to improve chess I was getting a lot of blank stares. It seemed that nobody had ever considered the possibility of doing anything differently. Just recently things have been improving.

Imagine if no chess opening theory had ever been written down. How well would you play in the opening?

You could ask people what they play and try to remember some of it … but you’d also be trying “new” ideas like replying to 1.e4 with 1…d5! What a novelty!
